Which patients are suitable for RIRS surgery?

  2. Stones that are resistant to extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL).

How long does RIRS surgery last? The length of the surgery depends on the size of the stone and lasts on average between 1.5 and 3 hours.

In which centers is RIRS surgery performed? This surgery requires advanced and expensive equipment, and currently less than 7 centers in all of Iran have the necessary equipment for this surgery.

Which surgeons perform RIRS surgery? Kidney and urinary tract surgeons (urologists) who have completed a special course for this surgery. This surgery is not taught in the specialized course of kidney surgery, and to learn it, fellowship and subspecialty courses are required.
